An outer sleeve(44) of the pin(21) is made of steel and has an axial bore(28) over at least part of its length. A core pin(31) of a material with high heat conductivity is located in the bore. Materials for the sleeve and core pin grip each other to form a permanent and gap-free connection between the outer surface(34) of the core pin and the inner surface(37) of the sleeve. The outer surface(34) of the core pin(31) is connected to the inner surface(37) of the pin sleeve(44) merely by a material connection of both metals. The axial bore(28) may extend the full axial length of the tool pin. Closure of the axial bore at the molding cavity end can be by a steel plate or a coating(35a). Cooling channels are located adjacent to the tool pin(21). Tool pin diameter is not less than10mm.
