<p>A position determining system for a work machine, which includes a body 102 and a work linkage 104, includes a laser receiver 115 configured to detect a laser beam 152 and communicate a height signal indicative of the height of the work machine body relative to the laser beam. A swing frame 116 pivots in a lateral direction relative to the work machine body about a vertical axis 122 and includes a swing frame sensor configured to monitor the swing position. A portion of a digging arm 118 pivots in the lateral direction about the vertical axis and includes at least one digging arm sensor configured to monitor the position of the digging arm. A control module is in communication with the laser receiver, the swing frame sensor and the digging arm sensor. The control module may be configured to determine a position of the work linkage relative to a desired grade which may be defined by the laser beam.</p> |
