Filamentary, sheet-like or textile materials formed from particles, of various shapes and configurations, of synthetic polymers (preferred nylon), such that the particles are held together by tentacles from one particle bonding with adjacent particles. Configurations of particle shapes and bonds are claimed together with sheet materials formed from particles of differing polymeric materials, differing colours, or using expanded polymeric material. The sheet-like material described is formed by extruding lamellae shaped particles of the polymer, separated by a second fluid or semi-fluid component, (as described in British Patent Applications Nos.33978/63 and 15752/64), drawing tentacles from the particles, bonding and setting the polymer material and destroying the continuous structure of the second component. This second component may be, for example, a mixture of a lubricant and a thickening agent, or preferred, a polyoxyethylene resin which can be readily removed with water. |
