A flexible conduit in which a movable core 20 may be housed comprises a tube 12 surrounded by a sheath 14 formed of wires 22 and at least one plastics filament 24 wrapped helically round the tube 12 in side-by-side relationship. The tube 12 and filaments 24 are preferably of a plastics material such as nylon or P.T.F.E., and the filaments 24, which may be mono-filaments or of woven or spun multistrand form, may be of larger, smaller, or the same diameter as the wires 22. The wires and filaments may alternate regularly, and need not be contiguous. If two wires are not separated by a filament 24 a small gap is maintained between them. The sheath 14 is covered by roving 16 and an outer plastic cover 18. |
