The invention comprises compounds of formula <FORM:1037013/C2/1> wherein R1 is a group -CHR2 -(CH2)xNR4R5 in which R2 is a hydrogen atom or an aryl group, x is 0 or an integer from 1 to 6, and R4 and R5 are alkyl or aralkyl groups or the group -NR4R5 represents a heterocycle, and R3 is an alkyl group or any group R1, non-toxic acid addition salts thereof, and their preparation by hydrolysis of the corresponding nitriles. The compounds of the invention have anti-phlogistic, analgesic, anti-pyretic and diuretic activity and may be used in pharmaceutical compositions in combination with a carrier, for example in forms suitable for oral, parenteral, topical or rectal administration.
