The invention comprises polyazo dyes of the formula <FORM:1037012/C4-C5/1> wherein n represents 1 or 2, m, p and q each represent 1, 2 or 3, the sum of m+p+q being 5, a represents a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom (chlorine, bromine), a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl or alkoxy group, Y represents a hydrogen atom or sulphonic group and R the radical of any desired diazo component and in which the nuclei A and/or B may contain any substituents with the exception of sulphonic acid groups. The dyes are prepared by conventional diazotization and coupling procedures. The dyes are suitable for dyeing leather. In an example, 1 - amino - 8 - hydroxynaphthalene-3,6-disulphonic acid is diazotized and coupled with 1,3-dihydroxybenzene; 4-amino-21,41-dinitro - 61 - carboxydiphenylamine is diazotized and coupled with the monoazo dye produced to obtain a disazo dye which is coupled with a further two moles of diazo compound obtained by diazolization of 4-amino-21,41-dinitro - 61 - carboxydiphenylamine. Many additional examples are furnished.
