A power converter comprising a main circuit section provided with a switching section delivering an AC voltage of arbitrary frequency and voltage by switching a DC voltage including a DC voltage produced from an AC voltage, and a section for controlling a switching element constituting the switching section to a desired on/off state based on the information concerning the operation of a preset load and the information from various detectors in the main circuit section, wherein the main circuit section comprises a section for storing the characteristics, calibration values, record of manufacture, record of use concerning the main circuit section, the lifetime information of components of the main circuit section calculated from the record of use and the specifications. The work for combining the main circuit section and the control section, and the work for modifying the function are thereby facilitated while suppressing an increase in the total stock. Furthermore, a user can be provided with a power converter which can be upgraded easily. |
