The pyrotechnic thermic safety device comprises a self-ignition system for a gas generator for inflating an airbag in the event of a motor vehicle collision. It is temperature-dependent and produces spontaneous ignition at a well-defined ignition temperature, which is lower than that for the gas-generating mixture in the gas generator. The safety device contains guanyl urea nitrate and/or guanyl urea dinitridamide with 3-nitro-1,2,4-triazol-5-one. This is mixed with an oxidation medium and a reduction medium in the form of a slag creator. These components can be mixed in different compositions to produce an ignition temperature between 150 and 180 degrees Celsius. |
