The shock absorber (10), designed to be fitted e.g. to the ends of lengthwise chassis members (11, 12), consists of at least one absorption element (110, 120) with an outer surface (111, 121) that has a shock contact zone (112, 122). It incorporates a peripheral absorption zone (113, 123) with lengthwise ribs (1131, 1231) lying parallel to the outer surface, and an inner absorption zone 114, 124) with transverse ribs (1141, 1241) lying perpendicular to the outer surface. The absorption elements are made from a polymer material by extrusion-blowing and can be filled with an elastic foam. They are fitted in place by bolts for easier fixing and replacement.
