The invention relates to a vacuum cleaner (10) comprising a dust collection container (12), which is equipped with a suction inlet (14) and which has a flow connection to a suction unit (18), and an electronic control system (24) for controlling the suction unit (18). Said electronic control system comprises at least one electric component with a cooling body (28), which can be supplied with cooling air that flows through a cooling channel (30), the latter being connected to the suction unit to allow the passage of air. The aim of the invention is to improve the vacuum cleaner (10) to enable a compact construction and to guarantee that both one component of the electronic control system (24) and the suction unit (18) are sufficiently cooled. To achieve this, a bleeder valve (37) comprising a valve body (38) is located in the cooling channel (30). Said valve body can be displaced back and forth between an open position, in which it exposes the cooling channel (30) and a closed position, in which it partially closes the cooling channel (30), dependent on the pressure in the dust collection container (12).
