RELATIVE ROTATIONAL POSITION DETECTOR

A relative rotational position detector comprises a first sensor performing noncontact detection of the rotational position of a first shaft section and producing a first output signal by shifting the phase of a reference AC signal in accordance with the detected rotational position, and a second sensor performing noncontact detection of the rotational position of a second shaft section and producing a second output signal by shifting the phase of the reference AC signal in accordance with the detected rotational position. A first timing signal corresponding to the phase shift amount of the first output signal, and a second timing signal corresponding to the phase shift amount of the second output signal are outputted through respective output lines. Relative rotational position detection data, i.e. the rotational difference or torsion between the two shaft sections, appears in the time difference between the first and second timing signals. Alternatively, it is possible to output a PWM signal having a pulse width corresponding to the time difference between the first and second timing signals.
