A method of screening a drug by using a protein and a compound obtained by this screening method. A compound or its salt inhibiting the activity or expression of the above-described protein, a neutralizing antibody against the protein, a polynucleotide complementary to a polynucleotide encoding the protein, etc. are usable as preventives and/or remedies for neurodegenerative diseases and so on. A compound or its salt enhancing the activity or expression of the above-described protein, the protein or its partial peptide, a polynucleotide encoding the protein, etc. are usable as preventives and/or remedies for cancer and so on. Furthermore, the above-described protein is useful as a reagent for screening a compound inhibiting or enhancing the activity of the protein.
