An engine, comprising a valve gear (7) driving an exhaust valve (4) by a valve lifter (5) and an exhaust camshaft (6). An oil is fed to a journal part (13) and the shaft holes of a bearing (18) through an oil passage (14) formed in the exhaust camshaft (6). An auxiliary oil passage (24) opening, at one end, to an oil collecting part (21) formed in a part of the shaft holes and opening, at the other end, to the side wall (15d) of the bearing (18) adjacent to the valve lifter (5) is formed in the exhaust camshaft. A guide wall (25) guiding the oil from the outlet of the auxiliary oil passage (24) to the hitting noise generating position (11a) of the valve lifter (5) is formed on the side wall (15d).
