The invention relates to a calendered blank for use in the manufacture of footwear and to method of making the same. The calendered blank according to the present invention may be used for the production of finally shaped components of footwear i.e. shoe insole, toe stiffeners, heel counters and cut and skived components. The calendered blank consists of two or more layers with one layer, generally core one, made of suitably perforated metallic sheet, improving the stiffening, the thermal and the electrical conductivities of the components. The other/others layer/layers made of materials, like leather, fabrics, cellulose, composites, etc., providing a natural comfort to the foot. The calendered blank is produced using a rolling-on process and can be supplied as rolls and as sheets.
