<p>Systems and methods for programming and/or activating a subscriber identity module (SIM) enabled analog telephone adapter (ATA) device, i.e. a SIM card for an analog telephone adapter, which allows a fixed telephone to connect to a wireless network and use its services. A system is able to activate and/or program a SIM-enabled ATA module. Additionally, a mobile, station is provided that communicates with a wireless network, such that the activation/programming component e nables functionality of the SIM-ATA device by programming and/or activating the SIM enabled module via the network. Separate components can effectuate activating g and programming the SIM-ATA module. SIM-ATA device is able to activate its SIM card, when the SIM card is pre-programmed, by sending the pre-programmed data t o an Authentication Center. In another embodiment, the mobile station receives a token from the network, which is communicated to the SIM-ATA device, which then activates the SIM card after checking the token validity. In a different embodiment, a mobile station comprises several SIM sockets where a SIM for a SIM-ATA device can be plugged in and activated via the network. Other embodiment allows eplacing the SIM of the mobile station with the SIM of the SIM-ATA device and carry out the activation.</p> |
