The present invention relates to a diagnostic method for the detection of cancer in a human individual's body, the method being based on the determination of the concentration of an alkaloid derivative that adheres to or accumulates in cancer cells in blood and/or urine samples of individuals upon oral or parenteral administration of said alkaloid derivative to said individual, wherein a reduction of said concentration values as compared to corresponding values of healthy individuals indicates the presence of cancer cells in the individual's body. The invention further relates to a diagnostic kit for carrying out the method, and for the use of such alkaloid derivatives as diagnostic tools in cancer diagnostics. The invention also relates to a method of cancer localization within a human body which method is based on the adminstration of metal-stained alkaloid derivatives to a cancer patient and subsequent detection thereof using known physical detection methods.
|
