A small sized and thin lens barrel for adjusting focus by moving a lens group by using shape memory alloy, the lens barrel having high volumetric efficiency and minimum frontal area and thus the lens barrel being suitable to be built-in in a portable terminal. Further, the small sized and thin lens barrel is, when the lens group is moved by a shape memory alloy, capable of focusing at a predetermined object distance without requiring a detection means and with a uniform drive method even if the length of the shape memory alloy assembled has an individual difference. Also provided are an imaging device having the lens barrel and suitable to be built-in in a portable terminal, and a method of producing the imaging device.
