PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat developable photosensitive material maintaining high image density and high sensitivity, also free from the occurrence of unevenness in the density in heat development, and having excellent image preservability in light irradiation, and to provide an image forming method for the heat developable photosensitive material. SOLUTION: The heat developable photosensitive material has, on one side of a support, a photosensitive layer containing an organic silver salt, silver halide, a binder, and a reducing agent, and on the other side, a back coat layer, wherein the back coat layer is a layer formed using modified gelatin soluble in both of water and an organic solvent, and polymer latex.
