PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase a lubricating performance of engine in a vertical engine. SOLUTION: An oil pan 13 storing a lubricating oil L is formed at the lower end part of a crankcase 11, and a crankshaft 14 is rotatably installed in the crankcase 11 in the vertical direction. A governor holder 52 rotatingly driven by the crankshaft 14 is rotatably installed in the crankcase 11. An oil bucket 61 picking up the lubricating oil L in the oil pan 13 and jetting upward is fitted to the governor holder 52. The oil bucket 61 comprises an inflow port 65 allowing the lubricating oil L to flow therein and a tilted surface 66 guiding the lubricating oil flowing from the inflow port 65 therein to the upper side.
