PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flaky nickel powder which is a fine particle and has a sharp particle size distribution, and to provide an electroconductive paste using the flaky nickel powder. SOLUTION: A method for producing the flaky nickel powder includes streaming a slurry containing a nickel powder, a dispersant and a pulverizing medium, at a high speed, to form the flaky nickel powder from the nickel powder, wherein the pulverizing medium has a particle diameter of 0.03 to 0.3 mm. The flaky nickel powder produced by the above method has an average longer diameter of 0.1 to 20μm, an aspect ratio of 2 to 100 and a standard deviation of a particle diameter of 0.05 to 10.
