PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a plug, which is to be connected to a jack, easy to taking out and putting in. SOLUTION: A modular plug 10 has a joint 14 having a latch 80 to be engaged with the jack, and a housing 12 to be slidably engaged with the joint. The latch 80 has two fingers 92 and 94. The fingers are engaged with a wedge formed on the housing. Latch planes 116 and 118 to be engaged with the jack are formed in the middle of two fingers. When the rear edge of the housing is pulled at a condition that the modular plug 10 is inserted into the jack, the housing slides against the joint. At this time, two fingers are pushed by the wedge to move in a direction to close the fingers together and the engagement of the jack and clutch plane is released.
