The invention comprises compounds of the general formula wherein R represents hydrogen, halogen, alkoxy or trihalomethyl and R<SP>1</SP> represents alkyl or hydroxy-alkyl (containing from 1 to 8 C atoms) and acid addition salts thereof and the preparation thereof by reacting a 2-substituted-10-(3- chloroyrropyl)-phenothiazine with a 3-substituted- 3,8-diazabicyclo-[3,2,1]-octane in the presence of about three molecular amounts of an alkali metal hydroxide in an inert anhydrous organic solvent. They may also be prepared by reacting a chloropropyldiaza-bicyclooctane with the sodium salt of an appropriate phenothiazine. The above novel compounds act as tranquilizers and may be administered orally or intraperitoneally. |
