PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data relay and distribution apparatus capable of attaining further processing acceleration, miniaturization, and price reduction in comparison with conventional data relay and distribution apparatuses. SOLUTION: The data relay and distribution unit 100 comprises: a MAC address table including a MAC address for identifying a communication apparatus capable of performing communication via a port P<SB>1</SB>; a table retrieval unit 104 for retrieving whether or not a destination MAC address included in a MAC frame received by a buffer 101 is included in the MAC address table; and a port selection unit 105 for outputting the MAC frame to the port P<SB>1</SB>if it is retrieved that the destination MAC address is included in the MAC address table, and outputting the MAC frame to a port P<SB>2</SB>if it is retrieved that the destination MAC address is not included in the MAC address table.
