PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a biodegradable seed/seedling yarn allowing spores of seaweed such as sea tangle or wakame seaweed to easily adhere to and hardly come off in the seawater. SOLUTION: The seed/seedling yarn is produced through doubling and twisting twist yarns with a thick fineness of about 5,000-6,000 denier, twist yarns with a medium fineness of about 3,000-4,500 denier and twist yarns with a thin fineness of 2,500-2,900 denier. The respective twist yarns are formed through twisting monofilament, multifilament and desired spun yarns. A single fiber forming the monofilament and multifilament, and staple fiber forming the spun yarns comprise biodegradable aliphatic polyester such as polylactic acid, respectively. The monofilament preferably has higher rigidity than that of the multifilament or the spun yarns. The multifilament preferably has higher tensile strength than that of the monofilament and the spun yarns. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
