<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a curtain air bag device in which the curtain air bag is developed smoothly in a downward direction. <P>SOLUTION: A C-pillar 4 has a guide rod 5 fixed thereto for use in guiding the rear end of a curtain bag 1 when the curtain air bag 1 is expanded in a downward direction. The base end of a connecting band 7 acting as a connector is fixed to a location near the rectangular edge of a lower side of the rear end of the curtain air bag 1, and a loop part 7a at the extremity end of the connecting band 7 is loosely wound around the guide rod 5. In order to guide a downward motion of the connecting band 7, a wire member 20 is applied between the lower part of the curtain air bag 1 and the connecting band 7. The wire member 20 is applied and passed through the guide members 21, 22. The wire member 20 pulls down a part of the connecting band 7 in a downward direction when it is developed below the curtain air bag 1, so that the connecting band 7 moves smoothly along the guide rod 5 in a downward direction and the curtain air bag 1 is smoothly developed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
