PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a capsule type medical device capable of obtaining an endoscopic observation image and an ultrasonic diagnostic tomographic image by inserting one capsule into a body cavity and interrelating the endoscopic observation image and an ultrasonic observation image. SOLUTION: The medical device has an endoscope unit 10 with an observation optical part 11 and an illumination part 12 disposed on one end side and an ultrasonic unit 20 with an ultrasonic vibrator 21 disposed on the other end side inside the medical capsule 1. In addition, the medical device also has a radio transmission/receiving part 6 for the radio transmission with an outside device and a power supply part 7 for feeding power, etc. which are disposed along the longitudinal axis of the capsule inside the medical capsule. The observation optical part 11 is disposed on the longitudinal axis of the capsule. The illumination part 12 consists of an illumination substrate 17 in the shape of a so-called doughnut board, disposed on the outer peripheral side of a lens frame 15 and an EL element 18a as a surface-emitting light source, etc. The ultrasonic vibrator 21 rotated with the driving force of a driving motor 27 is of a mechanical scanning type, and the rotation shaft is on the same axis as the longitudinal axis.
