PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a boron-fiber-reinforced metal-matrix composite material having superior quality, by reducing damage to be formed on a reinforcing fiber in a manufacturing process. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the boron-fiber-reinforced metal-matrix composite material comprises the steps of: forming a preform by arranging a plurality of boron fibers 2 having a predetermined diameter between a plurality of metallic foils 1 with a predetermined thickness, and stacking the titanium foils and the boron fibers on each other; placing the preform in a predetermined vacuum atmosphere while applying a predetermined pressure to it; and passing a direct pulse current with predetermined voltage and a predetermined current (or superposed current of direct pulse current and direct current) through the preform for a predetermined period of time, so as to heat the preform at a predetermined heating rate and keep it at a constant temperature in a range of 343 to 1,501°C to join them.
