PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To offer a driver an opportunity to travel via waypoints anew, which have not been visited before, for the next time and later and enable the driver to easily determine whether he will travel via the waypoints or not when the opportunity is offered in a vehicle-mounted navigation system. SOLUTION: When waypoints are set, and route guidance is performed, waypoints which have not been visited when the vehicle has arrived at a destination are stored. In the case of the presence of waypoints stored in a prescribed region along a route when the route is newly retrieved, the driver is notified of their presence. Then a route via the waypoints is retrieved, and information on a branch point for a route not via the waypoints and a route via the waypoints while travelling and a difference of travel time are announced.
