PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation device capable of displaying required registered places as many as possible by deleting registered places whose position information is overlapped from the retrieved registered places even when many registered places are retrieved. SOLUTION: This navigation device has an external storage device 3 for storing a plurality of registered places correlatively with position information and name information respectively, a touch panel 11 for inputting characters, a central processing unit 4 for retrieving registered places whose name information includes the characters inputted from a character input means from the registered places stored in the external storage device 3, and a display 12 for displaying the registered places retrieved by a retrieval means. The device has characteristics wherein, when retrieving the registered places, the central processing unit 4 selects the registered places whose name information includes the characters from the registered places stored in the external storage device 3, and deletes overlapping of the registered places whose position information is the same from the selected registered places.
