PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of shortening time taken for ATVC (Auto Transfer Voltage Control) before image formation and between sheets. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus comprises: a member 1 on which a toner image is placed; a transfer member for transferring the toner image to paper or the transfer member itself in contact with the member 1; a power supply for applying voltage to the transfer member; and a detecting member to which the same voltage is applied by branching the voltage to be applied to the transfer member from the power supply, and which is disposed in contact with the member 1; a current detecting member for detecting a current flowing in a detection roller; and a feed back means for giving the power supply feedback so that the detection current becomes constant. In this case, the member 1 is a photoreceptor on which an electrostatic latent image is formed by electrifying and exposing and then a toner image is formed. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
