<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a measuring instrument capable of measuring phase currents and other values to be measured at lower cost. <P>SOLUTION: This measuring instrument 20 includes a switching device 38 connected to a phase current detection circuit 34 for detecting values of currents passing through a lower arm of each phase of an inverter 14 and other detection circuits 28, 30 for detecting other objects to be measured, as well as a determination device 36 for determining whether or not the lower arm is in an ON state. The switching device 38 outputs the phase currents to an ECU22 when the determination device 36 determines the lower arm to be in an ON state. On the other hand, when the lower arm is determined to be in an OFF state, the switching device 38 outputs the values detected by the other detection circuits 28, 30 to the ECU22.
