PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an in-vehicle navigation system for displaying a simplified guidance route, displaying and representing on a single screen with necessary minimum information for guiding. SOLUTION: The navigation system, provided with a simplified map display function displaying the simplified guidance route K, is constituted such that from the road link information forming the guidance route searched by the guidance route searching means, the guidance point Pi which is needed with guidance on the guidance route to the destination b from the starting point a, and the data of the passing point Ti to be a landmark for confirming for passing between the guidance points Pi are extracted; and the distance between the long point or short point is shortened or elongated under the condition that the simplified guidance routes connecting the adjacent points with a straight line not cross, so as to be able to display on a single screen the guidance point Pi, via point Ti and the destination b, by setting the contraction scale for simplified displaying, by connecting each point successively with a straight line are simply displayed, and also the distance between adjacent 2 points on the guidance route, and the present position of own car c and the simplified guidance route K are displayed.
