<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust emission control device for an internal combustion engine capable of sufficiently suppressing clogging of an injection hole and worsening of a spray condition by cooling an exhaust fuel addition valve while suppressing worsening of fuel economy. <P>SOLUTION: This exhaust emission control device for the engine is provided with a catalyst converter for purifying exhaust gas on the halfway of an exhaust passage 14 connected with a combustion chamber 13 and the exhaust fuel addition valve 36 for adding fuel for promoting exhaust gas purifying action to the upstream side more than the catalyst converter in the exhaust passage 14. In this exhaust emission control device, the exhaust fuel addition valve 36 is attached to a cylinder head 45 while the injection hole 36A faces a part in the vicinity of a connection part (an exhaust port 27) with the combustion chamber 13 in the exhaust passage 14. Furthermore, a bypass passage 51 is provided for leading cooling water passing through a radiator 48 before flowing into a water jacket 44 in a cylinder block 43 to the upstream side more than the exhaust fuel addition valve 36 in a water jacket 46 in the cylinder head 45. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
