PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the warpage of a retainer at its pillar section in accompany with molding of a contact face of a roller, with a simple design by using a metal mold formed with a smooth face having general versatility. SOLUTION: A recessed groove 9 extending in the circumferential direction is formed before molding the contact face on an inside-diameter face of the pillar section 7 by press working, so that an excess thickness escaping in the longitudinal direction of the pillar section 7 in accompany with the reduction of a cross-section at an inside-diameter face side caused by molding of the contact face, is absorbed by a part of the recessed portion 9, thus the warpage of the pillar section 7 of the retainer 1 in accompany with the molding of the contact face of a conical roller can be prevented with the simple design by using the metal mold formed by the smooth surface having general versatility.
