PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording method of an obliquely vapor-deposited magnetic tape capable of improving recording density of positive direction recording and a magnetic recording and reproducing device using the method. SOLUTION: In the recording method of the obliquely vapor-deposited magnetic tape for recording a signal by a linear system on a magnetic tape having a magnetic layer formed by oblique vapor deposition on a nonmagnetic tape, the magnetic tape is made to travel relatively in the column inclination direction of the magnetic layer to the surface of the nonmagnetic tape. At this time, the signal is recorded to the magnetic tape at a recording current value higher by 2.3 to 3.2 dB than the optimum recording current value of the maximum frequency (1T) of the signal for recording.
