PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sealing material application method whereby the adhesion of a topcoat to the surface of a cured sealing material does not become lower and is kept good when the term between the filling of a sealing material composition intended for topcoat finish into joints and topcoating is long as well when the term is short and to provide a sealing material composition intended for topcoating specifications which can give a cured sealing material composition being good in adhesion to a topcoating film and having a low modulus, a high elongation, and durabilities such as adhesiveness, water resistance, and heat resistance. SOLUTION: The sealing material composition essentially consists of a room temperature curing resin and an antioxidant. The method for applying a sealing material intended for topcoat finish specifications comprises filling the sealing material composition into a joint and applying a topcoating material after a period of time.
