<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hard coating film which has few point defects caused by cissing failure derived from contamination of a trace amount of silicon oil, to provide a coating composition therefor, and to provide an image display device which has few point defects caused by cissing failure. <P>SOLUTION: The coating composition for hard coating comprises an ionizing radiation-curing resin and an organic solvent and comprises 5-25 mass% cyclohexanone against the total mass of the solvent. Alternatively, the coating composition for hard coating comprises ≥5 mass% cyclohexanone against the total mass of the solvent and ≥10 mass% solvent wherein the solubility parameter (SP value) is ≤8.8 against the total mass of the solvent. The hard coating film (antireflective film) is obtained by applying the coating composition for hard coating to a transparent substrate film and performing ionizing radiation curing to form a hard coating layer 6.
