PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a backlight work stably in a short time with suppressing deterioration of displaying quality in blinking drive of the backlight for lighting a liquid crystal display panel. SOLUTION: The backlight driving circuit comprises setting parts 20, 21, PC1 to PCk for setting duty cycle as a ratio of lighting time to black out time of the backlight for lighting the liquid crystal display panel, and driving part LD for turning on and off the backlight at the duty cycle set by the setting parts 20, 21, PC1 to PCk. In addition to this, controlling units 22 and 23 are prepared to control the setting parts 20, 21, and PC1 to PCk so that it sets the duty cycle to increase in lighting time of the backlight BL in comparison with the standard value in a condition when the backlight does not work stably.
