PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for controlling a remote copying system to provide a function of minimizing a public line which is required for data transfer by organizing a disaster recovery system for transferring data of a database with the use of an inter-storage device copying function held in storage devices. SOLUTION: The remote copying system transfers data of a main side storage device 102 to a remote side storage device 104. The main side storage device 102 classifies the group of a logical volume for ensuring a data update sequence into a plurality of small groups and sets the usage rate of a side file for interrupting the data transfer at every classified small group. When the amount of the data staying in the side file exceeds a threshold, control is performed to interrupt the data transfer from the small group being lower in the set usage rate of the side file without stopping the data transfer of the whole logical volume in the group.
