PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide new cerium phosphate nanotubes which can be used in the optical field, and a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: The cerium phosphate nanotubes each having a diameter of 20-100 nm are produced by heating a phosphoric acid aqueous solution at 90-110°C for≥5 min and adding dropwise a diammonium cerium (IV) nitrate aqueous solution at the temperature while taking a time of≥10 min to react phosphoric acid and the cerium salt. When the cerium phosphate nanotubes immediately after production is further heat treated at 300-600°C, strong blue-light emitting is obtained when excited by an external light. The cerium phosphate nanotubes are expected to be applied to a light-emitting diode, an electroluminescence device, a non-mercury fluorescent lamp, a plasma display, or the like.
