PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device capable of decreasing skew of a belt as well as shortening warmup time and reducing power consumption, and to provide an image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: Support members 21 are in firm contact with a pressure member 24, one of the support member 21 being disposed upstream and the other downstream in the direction in which a recording medium X is conveyed. Of the trained sections 27, 28 of the belt 22 trained between the support members 21, the one trained section 27 is tautly trained such that each end of the trained section is held between the support member 21 and the pressure member 24. The other trained section 28 is untautly trained. The pressure member 24 is disposed in contact with the outside of the one trained section 27, thereby forming a fixing nip 29.
