PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove vertical streak noise surely regardless of variation in output characteristics of color filters even in a column amplifier system C-MOS image sensor. SOLUTION: The vertical streak noise removing section 70 of a C-MOS image sensor comprises a memory 32 for storing the error value for each column of an image signal outputted from the image sensor, sections 72 and 73 for correcting the error value, and a circuit 74 for subtracting an error value corrected at the correcting sections 72 and 73 from the image signal outputted from the image sensor. The error value for each column in the error value storage memory 32 is determined by calculating the average value of image signals obtained by shading the image sensor, subtracting the average value from the image signal, and accumulating the values obtain through subtraction for each column. The correcting sections 72 and 73 read out an error value corresponding to the column position from the error value storage memory 32 and multiples the error value thus read out by a correction gain G depending on the color component of a pixel thus correcting the error value.
