PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple means whereby an imaging apparatus provides an instruction on a control method of a digital image signal transferred to an external image processing apparatus, in an imaging system comprising the imaging apparatus such as a digital camera and the external image processing apparatus. SOLUTION: The imaging system is composed of: the imaging apparatus for imaging an object to provide an output of an image signal; and the external image processing apparatus connected to the imaging apparatus via a communication means. The imaging apparatus includes: an instruction means for instructing a control method of the image signal; and a transfer means for transferring the image signal to the external processing apparatus via the communication means. The external image processing apparatus also includes a processing means for processing the image signal transferred by the transfer means according to the control method instructed by the instruction means.
