PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semiconductor laser element which stably outputs light of single wavelength with a simple composition. SOLUTION: The semiconductor laser element comprises a plurality of semiconductor layers 12A, 12B, 13A, 13B and 14 which contain an active layer 14 generating light and are laminated on a semiconductor substrate 11. The laser element is further provided with a laminate 10 which outputs the light generated by the active layer from a first end surface 10a; and an elastic wave supply means 50 which supplies an elastic wave E proceeding in a direction almost orthogonal to a second end surface 10b facing the first end surface in the laminate, from the second end surface to the active layer. In this case, as a result of consistently supplying the elastic wave E from the second end surface to the active layer by the elastic wave supply means, refractive index distribution along the proceeding direction of the elastic wave E is formed in the active layer. Consequently, the light of the wavelength is stably outputted which meets Bragg condition determined by the period of the refractive index distribution out of the light generated by the active layer.
