PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new metal complex compound for an organic electroluminescent element capable of emitting blue luminescence. SOLUTION: This metal complex having a specific structure is represented by the formula (L<SB>1</SB>)<SB>m</SB>M(L<SB>2</SB>)<SB>n</SB>containing a metal such as iridium. In the formula (L<SB>1</SB>)<SB>m</SB>M(L<SB>2</SB>)<SB>n</SB>, M is a metal atom of iridium (Ir), platinum (Pt), rhodium (Rh), Ruthenium (Ru) or palladium (Pd); L<SB>1</SB>and L<SB>2</SB>are bidentate ligands different from each other; (m) and (n) are each an integer of 1 or 2; and m+n is an integer of 2 or 3.
