摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber which can increase the threshold power of stimulated Brillouin scattering compared to a conventional optical fiber, and to provide a transmission system and a wavelength multiple transmission system using the optical fiber. SOLUTION: The optical fiber is a single mode optical fiber essentially comprising quartz and containing germanium and fluorine as dopant. Each dopant is added to the optical fiber in such a manner that a portion (A) having the highest concentration of germanium is present near the center axis on a line connecting the center axis of the optical fiber and the outer periphery, and that a portion (B) having the highest concentration of fluorine is present closer to the outer periphery than (A).
