PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information recording and reproducing device capable of preventing data from permanently being destroyed owing to a physical shock to a recording device such as a hard disk drive which is easily affected by the shock. SOLUTION: A control circuit 2 reads and writes data from/to hard disk drives 3 and 4 alternately while always confirming either of hard disk drive heads is retracted into a shock protection area.
