PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnet type rodless cylinder having smooth operation. SOLUTION: Between inside magnet trains 11, 11 of pistons 10, 10 stored in two cylinder tubes 2, 2, magnetically repulsive force is operated in a tube axial direction, so an inside magnet 12 of the piston 10 rests while slightly deviating from an outside magnet 22 in the tube axial direction. The deviation generates magnet holding force Fc, shown by a point C, between inside and outside magnet trains 12, 22. Since the magnet holding force Fc is generated in the resting condition, the occurrence of stick slip phenomenon is suppressed and smooth operation is expected, as compared with the conventional case of starting movement in the resting condition where no magnet holding force is generated at all.
