PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mastication motion detecting device capable of achieving easy measurement of the strength and frequency of mastication action because of the easiness of attaching and reduction of loads. SOLUTION: This mastication motion detecting device comprises a sensor for detecting the variation in the state of the temporal muscle 21, which swells the scalp surface by the mastication and biting, as the deformation of a rod-like object 24 extending from a part fixed to the head 20 or the variation of pressure inside a bag-shaped object held between the fixed part and the scalp, and a device for displaying the strength or frequency of the action.
