PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the efficiency of fermentation production of L-glutamic acid. SOLUTION: The L-glutamic acid is produced by culturingγ-proteobacteria having a gene introduced therein and encoding a citric acid synthase modified so as to have an L-glutamic acid-producing ability and so as not to receive the inhibition by NADH (reduced nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) in a medium to allow the L-glutamic acid to be produced and accumulated in the medium or in the biomass, and collecting the L-glutamic acid from the medium or the biomass.
